Hearts of Oak are currently in negotiations with defender Maxwell Agyemang, who is set to depart from Asante Kotoko, Sportsworldghana.com can exclusively report.
Agyemang is among a group of eleven players advised by Asante Kotoko’s new technical team to explore new opportunities elsewhere.
Having initially joined Asante Kotoko from Division One side Wamanfo Mighty Royals in 2021 on a three-year contract, Agyemang displayed his skills with strong performances in the heart of the club’s defense. However, the technical team under Dr Ogum’s leadership has communicated that he is not part of their future plans.
In response, discussions between the 27-year-old center-back and Hearts of Oak regarding a potential transfer are reportedly at an advanced stage as they hope to land the defender ahead of the upcoming football season.
The Phobians are facing competition from clubs in Belgium and Russia.
Agyemang played a significant role in Asante Kotoko’s triumph in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League, helping them secure the title under the guidance of Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
