Hearts of Oak is currently engaged in talks with former Asante Kotoko forward Stephen Amankona regarding a potential transfer.
The negotiations between the Phobians and Amankona’s representatives are said to be at an advanced stage, indicating the serious interest the club has in securing the services of the talented player, though the Phobians are yet to officially write to Chelsea.
Amankona was sensational and undoubtedly one of the best players in the league for Berekum Chelsea, scoring 15 goals in all competitions in the 2020-21 season coupled with 7 assists, alongside three man-of-the-match awards.
He quickly climbed up the Chelsea ranks until Kotoko signed him in 2021 but failed to fit into the Porcupine Warriors setup, leading to several awkward moments before his return to Chelsea last season.
He ended the 2022/23 season with 3 goals in 19 appearances for Asante Kotoko and the Bibires.
The potential transfer of Amankona to Hearts of Oak signifies the club’s ambition to strengthen their attacking options and enhance their chances of success in the upcoming football season.
