Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt have expressed their excitement over the potential of Ghanaian youngster Lawrence Setordjie following his transfer from Ghana Premier League club Accra Lions.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder recently completed a move to the German club after catching the attention of Frankfurt during Accra Lions’ European tour.
Setordjie will initially continue his development with Eintracht Frankfurt’s U21 team as the club carefully manages his transition into European football.
Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung believes the teenager’s combination of senior experience, technical ability and physical qualities made him an attractive signing for the club.
“Lawrence Setordjie is a young, talented player who has already gained experience at the senior level and captained the Accra Lions team last season,” Hardung said.
The Frankfurt official praised the Ghanaian’s pace, agility and technical skills, describing the qualities as important assets that can help him develop further in Germany.
“His explosive speed, agility and clean technique bring exciting qualities that we see as offering further potential for development,” he added.
Hardung also assured that Frankfurt will provide the necessary support to help Setordjie adapt to his new surroundings, both professionally and personally.
“We will support him both on and off the pitch to the best of our ability so that he can quickly settle in Germany and at Eintracht Frankfurt and take the next steps in his development.”
The move represents another major success for Accra Lions’ renowned player development programme, which continues to create pathways for young Ghanaian talents to move to Europe.
Setordjie leaves Ghana after making over 50 senior appearances for Accra Lions and captaining the club during the 2025/26 season, achievements that highlighted his maturity despite his young age.
