Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Wilson Arthur, has tipped next month’s final between Asante Kotoko and Golden Kick FC to be a thrilling and competitive showdown.
Golden Kick booked their historic place in the final after stunning fellow Division One League side Attram De Visser 3-1 on Saturday, May 10, at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa. Asante Kotoko followed suit on Sunday, May 11, edging Berekum Chelsea 1-0 in a closely contested semifinal at the same venue.
The two sides will now meet in the grand finale on Saturday, June 15, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra. The winner of the clash will represent Ghana in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Wilson Arthur said he expects a closely fought and entertaining contest.
“We are anticipating a tough and exciting FA Cup final,” he stated. “I believe Attram De Visser didn’t perform to expectations, although I understand they were dealing with a few injuries. They said they were ready, but Golden Kick took their chance and deserved the win.”
He praised Asante Kotoko’s resilience in their late win over Berekum Chelsea and highlighted the intriguing subplot involving head coach Karim Zito, who led Golden Kick to Division One promotion before taking charge of Kotoko.
“For Asante Kotoko, I believe they deserve to be in the final. And what makes it even more interesting is that Coach Karim Zito knows the Golden Kick team very well. He qualified them to the Division One League, and many of their players played under him, so expect a very competitive final,” Arthur noted.
With a continental spot on the line and both teams riding the momentum of their semifinal victories, the stage is set for what could be one of the most compelling FA Cup finals in recent years.
