Young Ghanaian midfielder Alex Opoku Sarfo netted his debut league goal for Aris Limassol on Monday evening, playing a key role in a stunning comeback to draw 3-3 with Omonia Nicosia in the Cyprus First Division.
The 20-year-old struck just before half-time at the Alphamega Stadium in Kolossi, giving Aris hope after they had gone 3-0 down inside the first 30 minutes.
Veteran Montenegrin striker Stevan Jovetić opened the scoring for Omonia in the 11th minute and doubled his tally in the 27th, moments after Cape Verdean winger Willy Semedo made it 2-0.
With Aris reeling, Sarfo stepped up in the 43rd minute, rising to head in a well-placed cross from South African winger Mihlali Mayambela—his first goal for the club and a lifeline before the break.
Russian forward Aleksandr Kokorin, who came on for Sarfo at half-time, narrowed the gap further with a 54th-minute strike before Senegalese attacker Yannick Gomis completed the comeback in the 64th minute.
Ghanaian full-back Eric Boakye also featured for Aris Limassol, playing the entire match.
Sarfo, a former Ghana U-20 international, has been a consistent performer this season, making 32 appearances. Monday’s goal marks a significant personal milestone as he continues to grow in European football.
