Former Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko striker Obed Owusu has shared his expectations ahead of the upcoming MTN FA Cup semifinal clash between his two former clubs, describing it as a pivotal contest with continental implications.
Speaking to Agyapa Total Sports in Kenyasi, Owusu emphasized the importance of the encounter, noting that a win would bring either side closer to securing a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
“It’s an important game, and both teams stand a chance to represent Ghana in Africa,” Owusu said. “Samuel Boadu wouldn’t want Kotoko to beat him for the second time, whereas Kotoko would want to win and progress to the final.”
The clash comes with added intrigue as Berekum Chelsea head coach Samuel Boadu looks to avenge an earlier league defeat to Kotoko. Owusu believes that personal motivation, combined with the high stakes of continental qualification, will elevate the intensity of the match.
Despite the pressure, the former striker is anticipating an exciting contest: “It will be a good game, and I believe the better side will win.”
The semifinal showdown is set for Sunday, May 11 at the Tarkwa TNA Stadium, with both clubs chasing silverware and a return to the African stage.
