Former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu is set to take charge as the new head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, with reports indicating the deal is 80% complete.
Sources close to the club suggest that Hearts will make an official announcement once final contractual details are ironed out. If confirmed, Konadu will replace Ivorian coach Aboubakar Ouattara, whose future at the club has come under scrutiny following an inconsistent campaign.
The move marks a potential turning point for the Phobians, who are seeking a steady hand to revive their fortunes in the Ghana Premier League. Konadu, a former Asante Kotoko head coach, is highly regarded for his tactical organization and composed leadership style.
As part of the expected technical overhaul, veteran goalkeepers’ coach Najahu Issa is also tipped to join Konadu’s backroom staff. Talks are progressing positively, and both appointments could be confirmed in the coming days.
Hearts of Oak currently sit sixth in the league table with 46 points, eight behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars, with four matches remaining in the season. The club is hoping Konadu’s arrival will bring renewed direction and stability as they aim to finish the campaign strongly and rebuild for next season.
