“Fake leaders, you’d hear from me soon” – Kwadwo Obeng Jnr descends on Hearts of Oak technical team for not attending his wedding

Hearts of Oak striker Kwadwo Obeng Junior has expressed his disappointment with the club’s technical team members for their absence at his wedding over the weekend.

The 23-year-old forward, who recently married his long-time girlfriend Cecilia Gyasiwah in Sapeiman, Greater Accra, on Saturday, June 17, 2023, voiced his dissatisfaction with the lack of attendance from the technical team, including interim boss David Ocloo.

In a statement shared on his WhatsApp status, Obeng Junior referred to the absent coaches as “fake leaders” and blamed them for the club’s downfall. He warned that he would address the issue soon, emphasizing the importance of trust in the workplace.

“You people will hear from me very soon, they are all part of the team downfall (fake leaders). Don’t trust anyone at ur workplace,” Obeng Jnr shared on his WhatsApp status.

In response to the post, Obeng clarified in an interview with Oyerepa FM that his message was not directed at any specific board member or technical team member. He acknowledged the presence of board member Vincent Odotei at his wedding but expressed concern about the absence of the technical team.

He clarified that his frustration stemmed from his expectation that the team members, who were given invitation cards in advance, would attend the event.

Obeng Junior emphasized his lack of problems with anyone, including the club’s supporters, but expressed disappointment with those he works closely with who failed to show up.

He mentioned that he had involved the team manager in the preparations, even discussing financial contributions from the team to support his wedding. However, despite these discussions and reminders, none of the technical team members attended the ceremony, leaving him perplexed.

“I wrote it myself but that doesn’t mean I have a problem with any board member of technical team members, Hon. Odotei was even at my wedding but the the issue is, I saw none of the technical team members at the wedding so I was very worried hence that post.

“I don’t have a problem with anyone including the supporters but those that I work with who didn’t attend my wedding were the reason behind the post”

“You cant bypassed your leaders and invite outsiders for your program so they were the very first people I gave an invitation card to before even bring the cards out to the public. It was given to the team manager who after training showed it to the whole team.”

“What pains me the most is that, a week to the program, the team manager again raised the topic and mentioned the amount they will be contributing to support me, and the following Saturday was the program which I even put them on my agenda for the day but none of them showed up so I don’t know what’s really happening that led to their absence”

With his contract set to expire on the 30th of June, the 23-year-old forward is keeping his options open, exploring potential destinations where he can continue to grow and contribute to the beautiful game.

He scored three goals in the just ended campaign.
