On 3rd April 2024, Cameroon appointed 61-year-old Belgian tactician Marc Brys as the replacement for Rigobert Song to the surprise of Cameroonians.

It was two days later revealed that the Ministry of Sports appointed Brys without consulting the president of the FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o.

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan hitman has kept mute regarding his sideline of the appointment of the new head coach. The Belgian tactician officially signed his two-year contract on Monday and shockingly, the president of the Cameroonian Football Association (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o was absent.

The legendary forward has revealed that he missed the orientation of the new head coach due to
personal reasons. It is unclear what exactly happened that the whole president of FECAFOOT was absent on such a special occasion.

Many Cameroonians are not happy at all with the appointment of Marc Brys as they think he does not fit the profile they were after.

It is believed that Marc Brys will struggle to win the support of the FECAFOOT. The Belgian head coach is tasked to take Cameroon to both the 2025 AFCON in Morocco and the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be played in USA-MEXICO-CANADA.
