Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce have stepped up their pursuit of Sunderland attacker Brian Brobbey by submitting an official loan proposal that includes an option to make the deal permanent.

The Istanbul-based side are looking to strengthen their frontline for the remainder of the campaign and have singled out the 24-year-old as a priority addition as they push for success domestically and in Europe.

Sources close to the situation indicate that Brobbey has already agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce. However, the transfer has not yet been finalised, as the club must first create space in their squad by moving on one of their foreign players to comply with league regulations.

Brobbey, who is of Ghanaian descent but represents the Netherlands internationally, only joined Sunderland in September 2025 and is tied to the English club until June 2029. His first season in the Premier League has produced mixed results, with the forward recording five goals and one assist in 19 appearances as the Black Cats fight to maintain stability in the top flight.

Despite his inconsistent run of form, the striker remains highly rated, having earned eight senior caps for the Netherlands and scoring once for the national team.

Fenerbahce are believed to be working urgently to complete the deal before the transfer window shuts, but Sunderland are carefully assessing the potential impact of allowing one of their attacking options to leave midway through the season.

Talks are expected to continue in the coming days as the Turkish side attempts to resolve their squad situation, with optimism that an agreement can eventually be reached if the necessary adjustments are made.
