Mali 5-0 Mexico
At the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya in front of 7,034 spectators, Mali scored four in the first half as Mexico was miserable.
Barry Mahamoud’s quick double in the 9th and 13th minute put the Malians in a comfortable lead in the 9th and 13th minutes respectively.
Ibrahim Diarra scored Mali’s third in the 15th minute with Ibrahim Kanate’s 39th minute penalty rounding off a marvellous first half for Mali.
Ange Tia scored Mali’s 5th in the 50th minute. Soumaila Coulibaly’s boys put up a five-star performance as their opponents had probably their worst day in their young career.
Mali becomes the first African team to qualify for the Quarter-finals.
