The Ghana U20 Women’s national team, affectionately known as the Black Princesses, have clinched qualification for the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup with an impressive 7-1 aggregate victory over their Senegalese counterparts.
The first leg of the final round of African qualifiers unfolded last weekend in Senegal. In this away match, the Black Princesses showcased their dominance, securing a commanding 2-0 win after a spirited 90 minutes of play.
Today, the Ghana U20 Women’s team hosted the second leg at the iconic Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Despite Senegal taking an early lead with a goal in the fourth minute, it proved insufficient to spark a comeback and reverse the tide.
A stellar performance unfolded as Berlin Nyarkoh netted a brace, supported by goals from Maafia Nyame, Tracey Twum, and Salamatu Abdulai. This remarkable comeback propelled the Black Princesses to a resounding 5-1 victory in the second leg.
Combining this result with their triumph in the first leg, Ghana has now qualified for the U20 Women’s World Cup for the seventh time, sealing the deal with a comprehensive 7-1 aggregate triumph over Senegal. The Black Princesses’ accomplishment reflects their prowess and determination on the international stage.
