Fiifi Banson sparks debate, claims Mohammed Polo was more skilful than Lionel Messi

Veteran sports journalist Fiifi Banson has stirred controversy with his bold claim that Ghanaian football legend Mohammed Polo possessed greater skill than Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.

Speaking on Sporty FM, Banson argued that despite Messi’s global fame and accomplishments, Polo’s raw talent and dribbling ability were unmatched.

“When it comes to skill, Mohammed Polo was better than Lionel Messi,” he stated.

Polo, famously nicknamed the “Dribbling Magician,” is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most technically gifted players. He was instrumental in Ghana’s triumph at the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations and was a key figure for Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.

Throughout his career, Polo earned several individual and team honors, including the 1978 AFCON title and the 1975 Ghanaian Footballer of the Year award.

Banson’s statement has ignited discussions among football fans, with some supporting his view while others believe Messi’s achievements place him in a league of his own.
