Ghana’s Black Satellites head coach Desmond Offei has encouraged his players to shift their attention to the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU Zone B U20 Championship after securing their spot in the next stage of the tournament.
Ghana’s U20 men’s team clinched a semi-final berth after a 1-1 draw with Togo on Wednesday. This result saw the Black Satellites finish at the top of their group with five points from three games, having won one and drawn two matches.
In his post-match remarks, Coach Ofei expressed his satisfaction with the team’s achievement. “We are very happy. I think the first target in every tournament is the qualification to the semis, and we made it. So now, all focus is on the semis,” he said.
Ofei also praised Togo for their effort in the final Group A match. “I want to congratulate Togo. They fought really hard for this. Our boys worked hard as well, and we are very happy to be in the semis. Today’s game was really tough. Togo is very good. Tactically, it was a challenge, but in the end, we managed to secure qualification, so we are happy.”
Ghana will discover their semi-final opponent on Thursday after the conclusion of Group B in the WAFU Zone B U20 Championship.
