Former Asante Kotoko defender Gideon Baah has joined the coaching staff of American soccer side Allentown United.
The 30-year-old joins the fourth-tier side as first team head coach.
The MTN Academy winner has been without a club since July 2021 when he parted ways with Shakhter Karaganda of Kazahstan.
“It’s with great delight to welcome former RedBull New York and Ghana International player Gideon Baah (@gbaah3_official) to the Allentown United coaching staff for 2022!”, the club announced on social media.
“Coach Baah has seen and experienced at the highest level of the game and knows what it takes to get there. He brings with him an impressive playing resume that has seen him previously trial with current European Champions, Chelsea FC early in his career; going head to head with the likes of Claud Makelele, Michael Essien, Didier Drogba and John Terry to name a few. He has also played in the top divisions in Ghana, Finland, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and the USA.
“Baah will Head our first team as well as lead the charge with the rest of the clubs technical staff; building on the clubs philosophy and identity. We were first impressed with his hands on approach to coaching and developing players during his time with us last summer when he ran a few training sessions. This approach can also be seen during sessions in his independent training program”.
Gideon Baah last played for Shaktar in Khazakhstan in the 2021/22 season, making only five caps.
