Former Asante Kotoko striker Samuel Boateng joins Division Two side Mid City FC

Samuel Boateng, the former striker of Asante Kotoko, has formally joined the ranks of the lower-tier team Mid City FC.

The 25-year-old forward recently had his contract with the Porcupines mutually terminated a few days ago, following an unsuccessful tenure. Boateng had spent the latter part of the 2022/23 season on loan at FC Samartex 1996, where his performance fell short of expectations.

This decision to loan him out was prompted by Boateng’s difficulties in securing a position in Asante Kotoko’s starting lineup during the initial half of the 2022/23 season, participating in merely seven matches.

During his stint at FC Samartex, Boateng participated in 11 Premier League fixtures for the Timber Giants, yet failed to score a goal. Subsequently, he returned to Kotoko after the season concluded.

However, the return of Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum as part of the club’s leadership has triggered a series of departures as the team readies itself for the forthcoming season. Boateng was one of those affected by this widespread overhaul and today, he has formalized a one-year agreement with the Division Two club.

There are indications from Sportsworldghana.com that Boateng may not ultimately feature for Mid City FC, as he has also received offers from foreign clubs, diversifying his options.
