Former Ghana international Samuel Osei Kuffour is reportedly set to become the new Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko.

Widespread media reports suggest that the former UEFA Champions League winner has been recommended by the club’s incoming Board of Directors to take up the top executive role.

Kotoko have been without a substantive CEO since the departure of Nana Yaw Amponsah. In the interim, the club’s affairs are being managed by an Interim Management Committee (IMC) headed by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, with support from Kwesi Appiah and Malik Jabir.

A newly constituted Board of Directors is expected to assume office ahead of next season. The board will be chaired by James Osei Brown, with Kwasi Osei Ofori serving as vice-chairman. The founder and CEO of Rigworld Group, Kofi Amoa-Abban, is also expected to serve as a member.

Once the board formally begins its tenure, Kuffour is widely tipped to be appointed as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.

The club is also expected to name a new head coach before the start of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

Kuffour enjoyed a distinguished playing career in Europe, featuring for clubs such as AS Roma and FC Bayern Munich. He was also a key member of the Ghana national football team that secured qualification for the country’s maiden appearance at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

After nearly two decades abroad, Kuffour returned to Ghana in April 2009, signing a three-month deal with Asante Kotoko. However, he retired later that year without making an official appearance for the club.

In August 2013, the former defender was appointed as a board member of the Kumasi-based side.
