Former Ghana football Association president, Kwesi Nyantakyi is gunning for the member of parliament slot for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

According to reports in the local media, Kwesi Nyantakyi has received lots of calls from the people of Ejisu to represent them in parliament following the painful demise of John Kumah. As a native of Kwaso in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal district from the paternal side, the former Wa All Stars bankroller automatically qualifies to contest the seat.

Based on reports reaching Sports world Ghana, Kwesi Nyantakyi will be contesting the primaries on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party. The revelation of his desire to contest in the name of the NPP has finally confirmed the long-standing rumour of Kwesi Nyantakyi’s affiliation to the New Patriotic party during his time as the president of the Football Association.

The banned astute football administrator who is loved in the Ejisu constituency and has turned down several calls over the years to represent the people of Ejisu in parliament has suddenly reverted his stand from calls of the people of Ejisu. His recent decision to contest for the seat in this short notice has come as a surprise to many football fans and political enthusiast.

The popularity of Kwesi Nyantakyi in the Ejisu constituency has never been in doubt as he currently owns a fun club with huge following and contributes to empowering the youth and creating several opportunities for them. Reports also indicate Kwesi Nyantakyi is much fancied as against the wife of the late Ejisu MP by the top brass government officials.

Barring any last-minute withdrawal from the race, Kwesi Nyantakyi is likely to win the primaries and subsequently win the bye-election for Ejisu. Fred Acheampong, a member of the Executive council of the football Association also won his primaries in the Ahafo Ano South on the ticket of the governing new Patriotic Party
