Former Asante Kotoko, Berekum Chelsea and Young Apostles defender Henry Ansu has officially completed a move to Iraqi Premier League club Al Shatrah SC, marking a new chapter in his professional career.
The Ghanaian centre-back joins the Iraqi side after building valuable experience in the Ghana Premier League, where he established himself as a reliable defender known for his physical strength, defensive awareness and ability to compete in aerial duels.
Ansu began his professional journey with Young Apostles, before earning moves to established Ghanaian top-flight clubs including Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko, where he gained exposure to high-pressure domestic football.
During his time with Kotoko, the defender featured in Ghana Premier League and cup competitions, adding depth and competition to the Porcupine Warriors’ defensive options while continuing his development at the highest level of Ghanaian football.
The move to Al Shatrah SC represents Ansu’s first major experience outside Ghana, as he looks to test himself in Iraqi football and further enhance his career on the international stage.
At 24 years old, the versatile defender brings top-flight experience, defensive discipline and familiarity with competitive football, qualities Al Shatrah will hope can strengthen their backline ahead of the new campaign.
