Experienced center-back Yussif Mubarik has completed a move to Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.
The 28-year-old former Asante Kotoko defender joins Medeama SC on a free transfer after leaving Philippines top-tier club Manila Digger F.C. last month. Mubarik’s return to the Ghanaian top-flight comes after a brief stint abroad, marking his comeback to the league where he previously made a significant impact.
Mubarik was a key figure in Asante Kotoko’s defense during his tenure, helping the Porcupine Warriors secure their last Premier League title in 2021. He also had a successful spell with AshantiGold SC, where he was regarded as one of the league’s top defenders.
After departing Kotoko in 2023, Mubarik had brief stints with Nepali side FC Chitwan and later Manila Digger F.C. in the Philippines. His experience and defensive prowess are expected to bolster Medeama SC’s backline as they prepare for the 2024–25 season.
Mubarik’s talent was recognized on the national stage as well, having been invited to the Black Galaxies of Ghana team under coach Maxwell Konadu.
With this signing, Medeama SC is looking to strengthen their squad as they aim for success in the upcoming Ghana Premier League campaign.
