Former Asante Kotoko and Ghana youth international goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim has set his sights on the UEFA Champions League after a resurgent season with Ethiopian giants, Coffee Sporting Club.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper joined the Addis Ababa-based side in August 2024 and quickly cemented his place as the club’s number one. Danlad featured in all 33 matches during the 2024/25 Ethiopian Premier League season, conceding just 16 goals and recording 21 clean sheets — an impressive 63% clean sheet rate that helped Ethiopian Coffee finish with one of the league’s best defensive records.
His debut performance — a clean sheet in a goalless draw against Ethio Electric SC — set the tone for a consistent and commanding campaign. Known for his quick reflexes, calm demeanor, and vocal presence in the box, Danlad earned plaudits from supporters and analysts across the Ethiopian football landscape.
Speaking to GTV Sports Plus, Danlad shared his long-term ambition:
“My dream is to play in the UEFA Champions League.”
Danlad’s move to Ethiopia came after parting ways with Ghanaian powerhouse Asante Kotoko, where he progressed through the ranks to become a regular starter before facing limited opportunities in his final season.
A former standout with Ghana’s U-17 and U-20 national teams, Danlad also boasts senior national team appearances with the Black Stars. His time in Ethiopia has revived his form and confidence, providing a solid platform as he eyes a move to Europe in pursuit of top-level football.
With youth on his side and momentum behind him, Danlad Ibrahim remains one of Ghana’s most promising goalkeeping exports — and now dreams of reaching Europe’s elite stage.
