Ghanaian forward Bernard Somuah has been rewarded for his impressive performances with Celta Vigo Fortuna after earning a place in the senior team squad for the club’s opening pre-season fixture against SC Braga.
The 20-year-old winger was named in head coach Claudio Giráldez’s 25-man squad for the friendly encounter at the Estádio Municipal de Braga in Portugal, as Celta begin preparations for the 2026/27 season.
Somuah, formerly of Asante Kotoko, caught the attention of the technical team after an outstanding spell with the reserve side. Initially joining on loan, the Ghanaian attacker impressed enough to earn a permanent move and sign a four-year contract with the Spanish club.
The talented winger played a key role in Celta Fortuna’s successful campaign last season, showcasing his pace, creativity and attacking ability, which have now earned him an opportunity to compete for a place in the first team.
The pre-season period will provide Somuah with a valuable platform to prove himself to Giráldez as he looks to break into Celta Vigo’s senior setup ahead of the new La Liga campaign.
Celta will face SC Braga on Saturday, July 18, before continuing their preparations with friendly matches against Real Sporting, Académico de Viseu, Sassuolo and Napoli ahead of the start of the new season.
