Former midfielder of Legon Cities FC, Michel Otou, has successfully completed his transfer to the Ethiopian club, Hawassa City FC.
The 26-year-old midfielder signed a two-year contract with Hawassa City FC on Thursday, marking his departure from Legon Cities at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.
Michel Otou began his football journey with the Ghana Division One League team, Unistar Academy, before transitioning to International Allies in 2017. While at Inter Allies, he briefly went on loan to Portimonense SC and also had a three-week trial with the Scottish Premiership side, Hearts of Midlothian. However, he was unable to secure a deal with the Scottish club.
During the 2017 Ghana Division One League season, Otou showcased his skills by scoring three goals and providing five assists in 13 league matches before his trial period in Scotland.
Following his time at Inter Allies, the talented midfielder moved to Great Olympics ahead of the 2020–21 Ghana Premier League season, alongside his former Inter Allies teammate, Saed Salifu.
His outstanding performances attracted the attention of Legon Cities FC, who signed him to bolster their squad.
Notably, Michel Otou’s talent earned him a place in the Ghana U-20 team from 2015 to 2017. He was a part of the squad that secured third place at the 2015 African U-20 Championship, making appearances in two matches during the tournament.
