French Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg have identified Ghanaian defender Kojo Oppong Peprah as a potential transfer target as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old, who currently plays for fellow Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, has attracted attention following an impressive debut campaign in France’s top flight.

Strasbourg have reportedly made enquiries about the availability of the Ghana international as they seek defensive reinforcements and additional quality in their backline.

The Alsatian club had initially considered a move for Senegalese defender Ibrahima Ba, but that deal fell through after the player failed his medical examination. Strasbourg have since shifted their focus towards Oppong Peprah as they continue their search for defensive options.

Oppong Peprah’s performances with Nice have helped raise his profile, with his composure, strength in defence and tactical intelligence making him an attractive prospect for clubs looking to invest in young talent.

Strasbourg’s interest also comes amid uncertainty surrounding the future of defender Ismaël Doukouré, increasing their need for defensive depth ahead of the upcoming campaign.

A potential move within Ligue 1 would represent another significant step in Oppong Peprah’s career development. Having established himself at Nice, a transfer to Strasbourg could offer him further opportunities to gain regular first-team experience and continue his growth in European football.

Although discussions are still at an early stage, Strasbourg’s interest highlights the increasing recognition of the Ghanaian defender’s performances and potential.

Oppong Peprah was part of Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, where the Black Stars reached the Round of 32 and advanced beyond the group stage for the first time since the historic 2010 tournament in South Africa.

His international experience, combined with his progress in Ligue 1, has further enhanced his reputation and made him one of Ghana’s emerging defensive talents to watch during the current transfer window.

Strasbourg are currently evaluating their options, but their interest underlines Oppong Peprah’s growing importance on the European stage.
