English Premier League club Fulham FC has sent a heartfelt message of support to their former defender, John Paintsil, after he was involved in a serious car accident in Ghana over the weekend.

Paintsil, who played for Fulham from 2008 to 2011, was traveling with the Black Stars technical team on the Takoradi-Tarkwa road following the Ghana Super Cup match between FC Samartex and Nsoatreman FC. The accident occurred while they were returning to Accra.

The vehicle, which also carried head coach Otto Addo and goalkeeper’s trainer Fatawu Dauda, experienced a horrific crash. Fortunately, all occupants, including Paintsil, survived, though they sustained some injuries.

Fulham FC, where Paintsil remains a beloved figure, expressed their concern and support via social media, wishing the former player a swift and full recovery.

“Sending our best wishes and speedy recovery to John Paintsil following the recent accident. Our thoughts are with him and his colleagues during this time,” Fulham FC wrote.

The incident has cast uncertainty on the availability of the coaching staff for the Black Stars’ upcoming training sessions. The team is scheduled to prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger, with their training session set to commence shortly.
