Italian-born Ghanaian striker Caleb Ansah Ekuban, 31, has played the majority of his football in Italy since signing his first professional contract with Chievo Verona in 2012.
Ekuban has played for five different clubs in Italy, including loans at Sudtirol, Lumezzane and Renate, before joining Genoa permanently in 2012. Ekuban has also played in Albania, England and Turkey for Partizani, Leeds United and Trabzonspor, respectively.
His contract expires at the end of the season, having signed from Turkish side Trabzonspor five seasons ago for Genoa.
Genoa has discussed the possibility of renewing Ekuban’s deal until 2028 with the Ghanaian and his entourage ready to accept the offer, per reports from Italy.
Ekuban has made 117 appearances across all competitions for Genoa, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists.
Genoa will rely on Ekuban for survival because they are just three points above the relegation zone. The club sits in 15th place and must improve its performance after winning only one in the last five Serie A games to ease relegation fears.
