The 25-year-old defender of Ghanaian descent has finalised his transfer move to the German second-tier outfit ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window

German 2. Bundesliga side FC Kaiserslautern have announced the signing of German-born Ghanaian centre-back Maxwell Gyamfi from 3. Liga side VfL Osnabrück.

The former Borussia Dortmund youth star is linking up with the Fritz-Walter-Stadion campaigners on a free transfer ahead of the 2025-26 football season.

ln an excerpt of club’s statement, the Die roten Teufel have said of the signing of Gyamfi in an undisclosed period of contract: ”FC Kaiserslautern has secured the services of Maxwell Gyamfi. The 25-year-old defender is moving from third-division club VfL Osnabrück to the Palatinate.”

The Ghana-prospect defender had this to say right after inking his deal with his new employers via the club’s official website: ”FCK is simply a big name in German football, a good address. I’m convinced that moving here is the right next step in my career to further develop myself. I’ve been following the club’s path for some time and am looking forward to becoming a part of it and hopefully having a successful time here.”

Sporting director Marcel Klos added: ”We are delighted that we were able to convince Maxwell to join FCK. Last season, he was one of the top players in the third division. With his speed and dynamism, he brings components that are important for our game and for the second division in general, and he also possesses a hard-working mentality, which we value highly at FCK. Furthermore, he is a young player with great potential for development.”

Gyamfi figured in 33 games for VfL Osnabrück across all competitions in the just-concluded 2024-25 campaign.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, he still remains eligible to play for Ghana on the international stage as he’s yet to be cap-tied by the Germany national team.i
