German-born Ghanaian winger Maximilian Baafi has completed a move to Czech second-tier side Viktoria Žižkov after joining the club on a free transfer during the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old attacker arrives after leaving Dutch outfit FC Twente and is expected to strengthen Viktoria Žižkov’s attacking options as they target promotion to the Czech top flight in the 2026/27 season.
Confirming the signing, the Czech club praised Baafi’s qualities and expressed confidence in his ability to make an impact.
“Maximilian Baafi has joined Viktoria. The Hamburg native developed through the youth ranks of St. Pauli before continuing his development in the joint FC Twente and Heracles academy. The German forward, who is technically gifted and enjoys taking on defenders in one-on-one situations, impressed during his trial and will now wear the red and white colours. Welcome to Žižkov!” the club announced.
Baafi began his football career in Germany with Eintracht Norderstedt and FC St. Pauli’s youth academy before continuing his development in the Netherlands, where he featured in the FC Twente-Heracles academy setup.
Known for his pace, dribbling ability and flair in one-on-one situations, the winger will be hoping to establish himself as a key player for Viktoria Žižkov as they chase promotion.
Although born in Hamburg, Germany, Baafi is eligible to represent Ghana at senior international level, making him another promising dual-national talent on the radar of the Black Stars.
