German-born Ghanaian centre-back Joshua Quarshie has set his sights on helping Southampton secure a swift return to the English Premier League following his move from TSG Hoffenheim.
The 20-year-old defender has signed a four-year contract with the Saints and is eager to make an immediate impact at St Mary’s.
“I think I’m a very composed player,” Quarshie said in his first interview with the club. “I don’t do big things on the ball, but I’m very good at keeping everything simple. My physical presence and pace are my strengths, and that’s how I help the team.”
Outlining his ambition, he added: “I think we both have the same goal – to get promoted to the Premier League again. I’ll give everything I’ve got to help the team and show the fans the kind of player they’ve got.”
Quarshie spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Greuther Fürth, making 20 appearances in Germany’s second division, Bundesliga 2.
Born in Germany to Ghanaian parents, the towering defender remains eligible to represent the Black Stars at international level.
