Eintracht Frankfurt has entered into a strategic partnership with Ghanaian club Accra Lions FC, with the collaboration set to begin in June 2025. The agreement is focused on expanding Frankfurt’s international footprint and supporting the development of young football talents in West Africa.

Accra Lions, a club established in 2015, has quickly risen to prominence within Ghanaian football. In the 2023/24 season, they secured second place in the Ghana Premier League with one of the youngest squads in global senior football, boasting an average age of under 20. Their commitment to youth development and investment in a modern training centre has earned them recognition beyond Ghana’s borders.

The cooperation brings a number of exciting opportunities for both clubs. Eintracht Frankfurt will have direct access to scouting promising players from the West African region, while also playing a key role in enhancing their development. This includes improving training infrastructure and sharing valuable knowledge with the Accra Lions.

“This partnership is an important step for our club,” said Oliver König, chairman of Accra Lions FC. “We are proud to have Eintracht Frankfurt, a renowned Bundesliga club, at our side. Our players and coaches can benefit enormously from this collaboration – both on a sporting and personal level. We see this as a great opportunity for cultural exchange between two football-loving countries, which can go far beyond football-specific topics.”

From Frankfurt’s perspective, the partnership aligns perfectly with their long-term goals. Markus Krösche, Eintracht’s board member for sport, noted, “We are very pleased to be entering into a partnership with Accra Lions FC, which opens up new possibilities for both clubs. This initiative will not just help us discover African talents, but will also help us share our sporting and organisational experience with a dynamic club like Accra Lions.”

The Bundesliga side views this move as part of its broader ambition to grow its global network and support youth development internationally. Recognising the rising significance of African football, both in terms of talent and social impact, Eintracht Frankfurt hopes the partnership will not only strengthen its own team but also contribute meaningfully to the evolution of the game in Ghana.
