Accra Lions CEO Oliver König has shared his excitement and pride as the club announces a major partnership with Bundesliga giants Eintracht Frankfurt, set to take effect in June 2025.
The collaboration is designed to boost both clubs’ international presence and focus on nurturing young football talent, particularly from West Africa.
“We are proud to have a renowned Bundesliga club like Eintracht Frankfurt by our side,” said König. He emphasized how significant the alliance is for the Ghanaian side, especially in terms of development for both players and coaches.
“This partnership is an important step for our club,” König added. “Our players and coaches can benefit enormously from this collaboration – both on a sporting and personal level. We see this as a great opportunity for cultural exchange between two football-loving countries that goes far beyond football-specific topics.”
Accra Lions, founded in 2015, have quickly risen in Ghanaian football. In the 2023/24 season, they finished second in the Ghana Premier League with one of the youngest squads in professional football, featuring an average age under 20. Their commitment to youth development and the establishment of a modern training facility has drawn attention both in Ghana and internationally.
As part of the partnership, Eintracht Frankfurt will have the opportunity to scout and support talented players from the Accra Lions setup. The German club will also contribute by enhancing training conditions and sharing technical and organizational expertise.
The deal reflects Frankfurt’s broader mission to expand its global network and invest in the development of young talent. It also signals their recognition of the growing potential of African football, both in terms of sporting excellence and social impact.
This landmark partnership is expected to open new doors for Accra Lions players while allowing Eintracht Frankfurt to deepen its engagement with the African football scene—creating mutual benefits for both sides on and off the pitch.
