The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has summoned the leadership of supporters’ groups from Ghana Premier League clubs for an emergency meeting on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11 a.m.
This urgent meeting comes in the wake of violent clashes during the match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko in Nsoatre over the weekend, which resulted in the tragic death of a well-known Kotoko fan.
In response to the incident, the GFA has suspended the league and introduced additional measures to address the issue.
The discussions will center on strategies to prevent stadium violence, promote responsible fan behavior, enhance conflict resolution, and strengthen collaboration with security personnel.
Recognizing the vital role of supporters’ groups in shaping fan conduct, the GFA aims to engage their leadership in efforts to create a safer football environment.
The association expects full participation, stressing the urgency of restoring safety and ensuring a secure and enjoyable football experience across the country.
