The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is reportedly in advanced discussions with Union Berlin forward Ilyas Ansah over a potential nationality switch to play for the Black Stars at international level.
The 20-year-old striker, who has represented Germany at U20 and U21 levels, remains eligible to feature for Ghana through his paternal heritage. Highly rated for his height, link-up play, and clinical finishing, Ansah has been identified as one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.
According to Kickgh.com, the Black Stars technical team has included Ansah in its long-term plans as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be staged in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Ansah currently plays alongside Derrick Arthur Kohn at Union Berlin — a player who recently made his debut for Ghana after also switching allegiance to the West African nation.
Talks between Ansah’s representatives and GFA officials are said to be progressing positively, with optimism that the forward will commit his international future to Ghana in the coming months.
Should the move be finalised, Ansah would become the latest in a growing list of Europe-based dual nationals joining Otto Addo’s rejuvenated Black Stars squad ahead of next year’s World Cup campaign.
