Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has suggested that Mohammed Kudus might not be entirely ruled out of the upcoming game against Comoros.
The midfielder from West Ham United experienced back problems during Monday’s training session, raising concerns about his participation in the match.
Contrary to earlier reports stating that Kudus would miss the game, Asante Twum clarified in an interview that the player’s status is not definitive. The medical team will assess Kudus again before making a final decision ahead of the match.
“Kudus did not complete the Monday training session with the rest of the players because he complained of back pain, so the medical team decided he should not continue with the training, but he is not entirely ruled out of the game,” explained Asante Twum.
“He will be assessed again by the medical team before the game. I am sure the medical team and the technical team will make a final decision on Mohammed Kudus, but the rest of the players are all in contention to feature against Comoros,” he added.
The Black Stars are set to face Comoros at the Stade de Moroni in their second group game of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 GMT.
Daniel Amartey, the Besiktas centre-back, is also expected to be absent due to an injury sustained in the match against Madagascar.
Ghana aims to secure a spot in the World Cup, having previously made four appearances in the global tournament.
