Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has confirmed that the FA is actively working on arranging another friendly match for the Black Stars during the October international window.
Recently, the country’s football governing body announced that the national team will be participating in an international friendly against the United States of America.
The match is scheduled to take place on October 17, 2023, at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee.
Asante Twum stated that in their efforts to build a strong team, the Black Stars will engage in a friendly match against another country in October, following their game against the USA.
“The football season will commence in September, and in October, there is an international window. As the FA, we decided to make the most of that window, and we have been fortunate to secure the match against the USA,” Asante Twum revealed in an interview with Asempa FM.
“The USA is preparing for a tournament, so they have chosen to play two international friendlies—one against Ghana and the other against Germany. This presents us with an opportunity to continue our team-building exercise.
“I would also like to emphasize that we will not only face the USA in October. We are actively working on securing another country so that we can play two high-profile matches in our quest to develop a strong Black Stars team,” he added.
In the meantime, the Black Stars will be facing Madagascar in the fifth round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers next month.
The team will enter their training camp on June 12 and depart for Antananarivo on Friday, June 16, in preparation for the game on Sunday, June 18. The match will be held at Stade Kianja Barea.
