Former Chelsea Star, Micheal Essien has praised the Kurt Okraku led Football Association for the re-birth of Colts football.
Over the years, there have lot of calls to bring back Colts football as a way of unearthing raw talents to the various national teams.
The decline of football in the national team in recent times have been attributed to non-existence of Colt football league which is a major platform in identifying and nurturing top talents.
The core of the team that qualified the country for its maiden world cup appearance in 2006 all came through the colts system.
Stephen Appiah, Sulley Muntari, John Mensah, Michael Essien, Asamoah Gyan, Laryea Kington, Richard Kingson and a host of others all came through Ghana’s amateur football clubs.
In a Twitter post, Micheal Essien posted “Great news, finally we have our Colts youth football league back. Well done, @ghanafaofficial for bringing back Colts football.
