The Ghana-born German international was excluded from the matchday squad for the 4-2 defeat at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen as a result of a flu he suffered.

Massimo was in line to feature until he was declared unfit and ruled out of the game.

The midfielder has enjoyed few regular game time this term, playing 15 games out of 22 so far in the league.

He has netted two times and assisted one in all competitions.

The 21-year-old was born in Ghana to a Liberian mother and an Italian father. He was raised in Germany and is a German citizen.

Massimo is a youth international for the Germany 21.
