Ghana’s Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has explained why he invited only one player from the just concluded 2022-23 Ghana Premier League season.

The Black Stars gaffer says he needs balance in the team which he says it is his duty to manage to find the balance , citing it as the reason he invited only one local player to join the team.

According to him, the Bechem United FC star player brings the sort of balance he was looking for in the team and that’s why he handed the former Ghana youth player a late call-up.

“We have only one local player in the team and he’s Hafiz Konkoni who plays for the team that finished third in the Ghana Premier League”.

“My role is to try to get the right balance and the right balance between the players that are playing abroad and the local players”, he added.

Ghana needs a win away from home to return top of the table and to secure a spot at the next total energies Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
