Ghana defender Derrick Luckassen has completed a free transfer to Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade after leaving Cypriot side Pafos FC.
The experienced 31-year-old centre-back has signed a three-year contract with the Belgrade-based club, strengthening their defensive options ahead of the 2026/27 season and their European campaign.
Luckassen arrives after two successful years at Pafos, where he established himself as a key figure following his move from Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The defender also enjoyed a memorable 2026 FIFA World Cup with Ghana, making two appearances and scoring in the Black Stars’ group-stage clash against Croatia, performances that further enhanced his reputation.
Red Star moved swiftly to secure the Ghana international’s signature despite interest from other clubs, adding an experienced defender with a wealth of experience across the Netherlands, England, Turkey, Israel, Cyprus and now Serbia.
Luckassen is expected to join his new teammates immediately as preparations continue for the new campaign, with Red Star aiming to defend their domestic title and make an impact in European competition.
