The Black Stars of Ghana have slipped in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola World Ranking after a winless stretch during the October international fixtures.
The team has dropped from 70th to 73rd globally and now ranks 14th in Africa. This decline follows a draw and a defeat against Sudan during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Back in September, Ghana had already fallen to 70th place after similar underwhelming performances against Angola and Niger in the AFCON qualifiers.
The four-time African champions now face the possibility of missing out on the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, as they remain without a victory in Group F of the qualifiers.
On a brighter note, the biggest risers in the rankings are Comoros, Ghana’s opponents in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, who have surged by ten places globally.
At the top of the global ranking, Argentina holds the first spot, followed by France, Spain, England, and Brazil rounding out the top five. In Africa, Morocco leads the way, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria, and Algeria.
Ghana’s next opponents in the Nations Cup qualifiers are Angola and Niger, as they look to secure a spot in Morocco for AFCON 2025.
