England-born midfielder of Ghanaian descent Brendan Wiredu found the net for Plymouth Argyle FC on Tuesday night, helping his side secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Bradford City AFC in the English League One.
The 26-year-old, recently back to full fitness, was handed a starting role in the Round 40 fixture and made an early impact. Wiredu opened the scoring just eight minutes into the first half, finishing off a well-worked move after being set up by Lorent Tolaj.
He delivered an energetic performance in midfield before being substituted on the hour mark for Caleb Watts.
Despite going behind early, Bradford City responded with determination and gradually grew into the game. Their persistence paid off in the 72nd minute when Will Swan found the equaliser to ensure both sides shared the spoils.
The result leaves Plymouth in 8th place on the League One table with 67 points, dealing a blow to their promotion ambitions.
