Ghana FA and France Embassy/France football federation hold meeting on Women’s football partnership

The Ghana Football Association ((GFA) and the French Football Federation (FFF) through the France Embassy in Accra have entered into a partnership to develop Women’s Football in Ghana.

The project which is being funded by the Foreign Affairs Ministry in France will have young players, referees, coaches and technical personnel go through series of training and exchange programs in Ghana and France to perfect their skill in various fields.

The French Football Federation has sent a delegation to Accra to hold discussions with officials of the Ghana Football Association on the way forward and offer suggestions to make the collaboration a success.

Ludovic Debru – International Technical Director, France Football Federation and Nada Amartey Mills – Project Manager, Cooperation and Cultural Affairs Manager at the France Embassy in Accra met President Simeon-Okraku Tuesday.

The meeting was also attended by Technical Director Bernhard Lippert, Head of Women’s Football Development, Ama Brobey Williams, Director of Communications, Henry Asante Twum, Lead on Women’s football Communication, Matilda Dimedo and Project Lead and coordinator, Janice Odonkor.

President Simeon-Okraku extoled the initiative, emphasizing that Women’s Football development has been a top priority of his Administration with improvement in areas such as competitions, capacity building, refereeing, player development, Coach Education with key focus on the GFA Women’s Football Strategy that would launch next month.

International Technical Director for the France Football Federation Ludovic Debru believed such international collaborations that focus on capacity building helps to develop new models and structures while ensuring professionalism in the Women’s game.

GFA Project Lead and coordinator, Janice Odonkor will work hand in hand with project team from the France Embassy to organize separate meetings with the Technical Directorate and other key stakeholders in areas such as Women’s football & Strategies, Coach Education, Refereeing, national football philosophy with coaches of our national teams.

Ghana is looking forward to make a representation in the Women’s Football competition at the next Olympics Games Paris, 2024.
