The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has strengthened its commitment to youth development by signing Black Starlets head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum to a two-year contract.

The decision is aimed at restoring the pride and dominance of Ghana’s U-17 national team on the African stage. Dr. Ogum, who replaced Frimpong Manso, has already made a positive impact by leading the team to qualify for the 2026 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in April.

His confirmation on a long-term deal reflects the GFA’s desire to ensure stability and steady progress at the youth level.
Speaking after signing the contract, Dr. Ogum expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and stressed that the project is about more than immediate success.

“I am grateful to the Ghana Football Association for the trust and stability this contract provides. Our focus is clear: to build a technically sound, tactically disciplined and mentally strong team that can compete at the highest level in Africa. We are not just preparing for a tournament; we are building a foundation for the future of Ghana football.”

Aside from coaching the Black Starlets, Dr. Ogum also serves as the GFA’s Head of Education, highlighting his strong involvement in structured player development and long-term growth.

He previously guided Asante Kotoko SC to the Ghana Premier League title in 2022 and led WAFA SC to a second-place league finish. His coaching journey also includes time with Ebusua Dwarfs and a role as assistant coach of the Black Galaxies, giving him valuable experience at national level.
With preparations underway for the continental tournament, Dr. Ogum is focused on building a strong and united squad capable of returning Ghana to the top in youth football.

The GFA has assured him of full technical and logistical support as it begins what many believe is a new chapter for the Black Starlets.
