Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has expressed his strong support for Dreams FC, the Ghanaian club competing in the CAF Confederations Cup semifinals.
He believes that Dreams FC’s performance in the tournament so far gives reason for optimism as they approach their crucial semifinal clash against Egyptian giants Zamalek FC.
Speaking exclusively to Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Twum reiterated the FA’s endorsement of Dreams FC as they gear up to face Zamalek in the semifinals. He stressed that Dreams’ impressive showing has won over football fans in the country, warranting full support from the nation.
Twum affirmed, “Dreams FC has made us proud, and the FA will stand behind them as they take on Zamalek to secure a spot in the finals. Their achievements thus far indicate that they are capable of succeeding this time.”
Dreams FC has surpassed expectations by reaching the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup in their debut season, notably defeating Stade Malien 3-2 on aggregate in the previous round.
Their upcoming encounter with Zamalek, a club with a rich history in continental competitions, poses a significant test for Dreams FC.
Zamalek boasts an impressive resume, including five CAF Champions League titles, one Confederation Cup title, and four CAF Super Cup titles.
Despite the formidable reputation of their opponents, Dreams FC remains undaunted, buoyed by the surprises they have sprung throughout the tournament.
As the first Ghanaian side to reach this stage of the competition since Kotoko and Hearts of Oak did in 2004, Karim Zito’s squad is eager to make history and continue their remarkable journey.
