Former Ghana international Hamza Mohammed has described young winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku as an invaluable asset for the Black Stars, insisting the country is “privileged” to have a talent of his quality.
In an interview with 3Sports, the ex-midfielder urged that the Leicester City attacker be made the focal point of Ghana’s campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, highlighting the 21-year-old’s potential as a generational talent—if he stays injury-free.
“He is a great talent. We are just privileged to have such a talent in our team. A young guy who is doing very well for himself and for the country,” Mohammed said.
“We just pray he remains injury-free. I believe he should be the one we look to for the World Cup.”
Issahaku’s reputation has grown following an impressive 2025/26 season in the English Championship, where he has registered 8 goals and 7 assists in 33 appearances since returning from a serious ACL injury. His performances have strengthened calls for Ghana to rely on him as a key figure as preparations for the World Cup intensify.
