Ezekiel Alladoh’s dramatic last-minute goal denied Karela United their first victory of the season, as Accra Lions fought back to secure a 1-1 draw in a thrilling match at the Naa Sheriga Stadium.
Karela United started brightly, with Najib Fuseini scoring the opener in the first half. His strike took a deflection on its way into the net, giving the hosts an early lead. Prior to this, Karela had nearly taken the lead with a chance from Ibrahim Giyasu off a cross from Eric Antwi.
Accra Lions dominated possession and created more chances in the first half, with attempts from Lucky Nwafor, Lawrence Setordjie, and Ali Mohammed, but were unable to find the back of the net before halftime.
After the break, Lions coach Ibrahim Tanko made a tactical change, bringing on Alladoh for Setordjie to bolster the attack. The substitution paid off as Alladoh added urgency to the Lions’ offensive efforts. Bernard Kesse nearly leveled the score with a powerful shot that was brilliantly saved by Karela goalkeeper Ganiu Mohammed, and a subsequent header was cleared off the line.
With just minutes remaining and Karela seemingly on the brink of securing all three points, Alladoh struck, firing home a late equalizer that secured a valuable point for Accra Lions.
