Asante Kotoko extended their winning run with a determined 2-1 win over Dreams FC at the Tuba Astroturf in Krokrobite, Accra.
The Porcupine Warriors took the lead in the first half with two quick goals in the space of three minutes. Yahaya Baba broke the deadlock in the 40th minute, converting a low cross from close range. Shortly after, Saaka Dauda capitalized on a rebound in the 43rd minute to double Kotoko’s advantage, giving them a firm grip on the game.
Dreams FC came back stronger after halftime, and their persistence paid off when Joseph Esso reduced the deficit in the 58th minute, setting up a tense finale. Despite their efforts to level the score, Dreams FC were unable to find another goal, as Kotoko’s defense held firm.
The game was evenly matched in many aspects, with both teams sharing possession equally at 50% and each recording eight attempts on goal. However, Kotoko’s precision in front of goal made the difference, as they managed more shots on target and converted their chances effectively.
This result marks Kotoko’s third consecutive victory, following wins over Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oak. The team remains three points shy of the league leaders, while Dreams FC continues to struggle in the relegation zone.
Kotoko will next face GoldStars on Christmas Eve, while Dreams FC aim to turn their fortunes around when they take on Berekum Chelsea.
