Bibiani Gold Stars returned to the summit of the league table after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Heart of Lions at Dun’s Park on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
The Miners came out strong and took an early lead in the 14th minute when Samuel Atta Kumi found the back of the net.
They continued to dominate and doubled their advantage just before halftime. A penalty was awarded to the home side, and Gideon Anaba confidently converted from the spot to make it 2-0.
Heart of Lions fought back after the break and reduced the deficit in the 60th minute through Nana Kwame Oppong.
Despite their late push, Bibiani Gold Stars held firm in the closing stages to secure all three points.
The victory puts the Miners two points clear at the top of the standings, while Lions suffer their second consecutive defeat.
They will now aim to bounce back as they prepare to host Asante Kotoko in their next match, while Bibiani Gold Stars face an away trip to Dreams FC.
