Bibiani Gold Stars clinched a crucial 1-0 win over Nations FC at Dun’s Park on Saturday, keeping their championship hopes alive. The victory sees them tied on 37 points with league leaders Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League standings.
The match was a tense battle, with both teams struggling to carve out clear scoring opportunities in the first half. Despite enjoying more possession, Gold Stars found it difficult to penetrate Nations FC’s solid defensive setup.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 69th minute when defender Michael Nkoah rose above his markers to power home a well-placed header from a corner kick, sending the home supporters into jubilation.
Nations FC fought hard for an equalizer but lacked sharpness in front of goal. Their continued struggles in attack condemned them to a third straight defeat, causing them to slip to fifth place and putting their top-four ambitions under threat.
Meanwhile, Gold Stars’ hard-earned win keeps them firmly in the title race, matching Kotoko’s points tally as the competition intensifies.
