Asante Kotoko came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Young Apostles in their first home game of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season on Sunday, September 22.
Young Apostles, who had failed to score in their opening two matches, broke their goal drought when Daniel Lomotey found the back of the net just six minutes into the second half, giving the visitors a shock lead at the Len Clay Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors, playing their second game of the season, pressed hard for an equalizer, and in the 76th minute, new signing Emmanuel Antwi unleashed a powerful long-range strike to bring Kotoko level. The goal, a stunning effort from outside the box, ensured the home side avoided defeat in front of their fans.
Despite late efforts from both teams to find a winner, the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Kotoko now sit on four points from their first two games, while Young Apostles remain winless after three matches.
Kotoko will travel to face Berekum Chelsea in their next fixture, while Young Apostles prepare to take on Aduana FC as they continue their search for a maiden Premier League victory.
